The 94th meeting of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) was held in Yokohama, Japan, and was hosted by the WIDE Project. In this issue of the IETF Journal we present some of the highlights of the week and offer a peek at the many interesting people and discussions that comprised the meeting.
Our cover article celebrates the upcoming IETF meeting in Buenos Aires and shares the opportunities it brings for both the IETF and the region. Other articles explore IETF work on the Internet of Things,special-use domain names, the benefits of a data definition language for JSON, the pre-IETF Hackathon, the Simplified Use of Policy Abstractions (SUPA) working group, and some impressions from anewcomer to the IETF. You’ll also find our regular columns from the IETF, IAB, and IRTF chairs, as well as coverage of hot topics discussed during the plenary meeting.
Finally, as 2016 marks the 30th anniversary of the IETF, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish the IETF a long and prosperous future making the Internet work better.
